The RRSA St. Louis family, like everyone else in Eureka, Missouri, becomes very excited once October arrives. October not only heralds much anticipated cooler weather but the city’s annual Eureka Scarecrow Festival!
We have SO much fun with this event! The below description from the official Eureka Scarecrow Festival website will help explain why:
“Nestled in the foothills of the Missouri Ozarks, and just 25 minutes west of St. Louis, the city of Eureka will come alive the entire month of October with colorful and artistic scarecrows posing regally in front of businesses, churches, schools and private homes. These are not your ordinary scarecrows! Each one is a work of art! Whether you visit uptown Eureka, along Fifth Street, running parallel to I-44, or stroll down Central Avenue in downtown/old town Eureka, you will experience a fun and festive feast for the eyes; but make sure you venture down the side streets, too! Scarecrows are “everywhere”!”
You can learn about all the great events going on during October in Eureka as part of the Eureka Scarecrow Festival by following that link above to the official page of the event, and you can visit and follow The Great Scarecrow Hunt Facebook page here.
One of the reasons the team at RRSA St. Louis gets so excited about the Eureka Scarecrow Festival is not only that there is a whole lot of things to do, but we have our own scarecrow entered into the competition for the best scarecrow. The prizes awarded for first, second and third place are nothing to sneeze at, either! First place gets $1000, second place, $500, and third place $250. However, as you can see from the images of our Scarecrow below, this is really much more about just having fun and fostering a great sense of community, (Our Office Manager Lisa is NOT a scarecrow. :))
We would love it if you would vote for our scarecrow. Follow this link to do so. All you need to do is click on the heart icon in the top left corner of that page.
